Spring Team Update, May 30, 2011
13U - Hardball's 13U team, coached by Donnie Roth, split a doubleheader on Sunday, May 22 with the Yorktown Athletic Club, falling in the opener 6-4, but bouncing back with a thrilling 9-8 victory in game two. Griffin Dresner went 1-for-2 in the opener with two stolen bases and scored a run. Ian Odland pitched well in the first game, carrying a no-hitter into the fourth frame. Dresner went 3-for-4 in the second game and earned the win on the mound. The 13u squad is now 3-3 on the season.
10U - The Hardball 10U squad posted a solid 11-10 victory last Sunday against the Tigers Sports Club. This young group is developing each time they step on the field with the main pitching duties falling on Mike Laitman, Phillip Sisser, Kole Thaler, and Jackson Gonseth with others also seeing action on the hill. Max Luke and David Conta can be found behind the dish while the infield has been anchored by a combination of Nicholas Lividini, Phillip Sisser, T.J. Komosa, Jake Rappa, Billy Sullivan, Gonseth, Laitman, and Thaler. Max Edelman, Alex Conta, Matthew Rae and David Rae have primarily patrolled the outfield. All member have shown tremendous versatility and passion for the game.
The coaching staff has been most impressed with the team's ability to hit and throw strikes. As the squad gains more experience their overall team defense will continue to develop.
