|
Local youth players participated in the Aquafina® Major League Baseball® Pitch, Hit & Run™ Competition, hosted by Hardball NY Training Center at Mercy College on Saturday, May 14.
Pitch, Hit & Run™ is the Official Skills Competition of Major League Baseball®. This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills.
“This was a great event for the kids in our area and we’re just pleased to be able to be a part of it,” said Bill Sullivan, co-founder of Hardball NY Training Center. “The kids had so much fun while competing and we wish our winners the best of luck at the next level. We know they will continue to compete hard and represent our area well.”
Participants were broken down into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14. The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each age group will receive certificates and advance to the Sectional Level of competition which will be held on Saturday, May 21 at Vine Road Fields in Stamford, CT. Champions have the chance to advance through two more levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2011 MLB™ All-Star Game®.
